In early July of 2007, Amanda was trying to get herself into shape for a long anticipated trip to the Double H Ranch. When another Doctor took her "off the list" for the camp, Dr. Darius Adams stepped in and made sure she could go:
"Dr. Adams came to my rescue (AGAIN!), so the next time i see him, i'm going to bow to him, lol"
Her trip to Double H would be one of her favorite experiences.
Amanda's Journey Foundation:
June 6th is the birthday of Abby , Amanda's beloved Cairn Terrier. When Amanda made a list of times she always wanted to remember, "Getting Abby" was number one.
"Abby has always been there for me through the good and the bad. Abby's not only my baby or best friend, she is now also my service dog. I love Abby to death!" August 28, 2008
With Mother’s Day coming up we offer this entry from Amanda Perrotta’s personal journal (August 27, 2008). It says it all, and needs no further comment or explanation.
“My mom…is the type of mom who always makes positive of something, even if that something is bad. I think that’s where I get my positive attitude and thinking. My mom never left me anywhere alone, even if I asked her to. She knew more about me than I did when I was little. When I got sick, she always told me that everything will be OK and to still reach for my dreams. She told that even if I was sick, I can still have a bright future. Thank you mom for believing in me every step of the way! I LOVE YOU (more than life)!”
Love, Amanda B+
An excerpt from the journal of Amanda Perrotta (04/17/08)
“The movie last night was crazy scary. Oh my gosh! I never thought i would make it through the movie without having a seizure or something. It was worse than any Halloween movie, and it was only 1 ½ hours! The only part i enjoyed…there were a couple of cute/hot guys in it…lol. Let’s say i was up all night and didn’t get to sleep until 4:00 AM! I told my mom i’m never going to see a scary movie again until i’m like 90 and can’t hear or see…lol.” Amanda :-) B+
Amanda was just a typical teenage girl who happened to have Mito. She had a great sense of humor, she loved movies (well, maybe not this movie!), and she knew a cute guy when she saw one!
Cathy LaFond-Evans is a good friend of the Amanda's Journey Foundation and we are happy to announce that she has founded a new organization to assist Mito families in northern New York. Check out their website www.mitohopeandhelp.com and be sure to look for Cathy at many Mito-related events in the upstate area.
